Last Friday on the 26 of April, 2013 I was invited to Square Enix London Offices for the special Kingdom Heart Community event. The event was dedicated to the English version of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX.
The event was organised by Rui Anderson – European Brand Manager for Kingdom Hearts franchise.
Just over 20 people were invited to the event but unfortunately only 14 of us made it…
We were invited to the presentation room where merchandise display was set up with various KH products and the one of a kind Nomura’s artwork of Sora and Riku.
Presentation started with the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and the Haloween Town – I was very impressed with the graphics and the sound quality! Well done SE! It doesn’t look like 11 years old game but something that was produced recently for PS3 – very nice surprise! It was also great to hear all of the original voice actors during the cut scenes and this brought back nice memories. We were shown couple more worlds including Hallow Bastion and 100 Acre Wood before moving further.
Next part of the presentation was Re:Chain of Memories that was originally released on GBA. Again the quality of the graphics and the sound were impressive. I wasn’t a big fan of how the “card” battle system looks but maybe this will change when I’ll actually play it… This part of the game is still in development and only Sora was available as a playable character.
The last part of the presentation was the “Theatre mode” of the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days – over 3 hours of footage from the game that started with an amazing Intro and the theme song Sanctuary by Utada Hikaru. (It was actually “Passion” as the song was still in Japanese with English subtitles.
After the presentation we were provided with drinks and snacks and interviewed one by one. The video footage from this even will be used to promote the game. ( I hope I haven’t said anything stupid… )
The entire Square Enix office looks amazing and there are posters/artworks and merchandise everywhere. I really like the Final Fantasy XIV room with huge artworks on every wall and stickers on the every window.
Each one of the attendees received a “goodie bag” including Shadow Heartless plush, KH phone strap and limited edition of the playing cards.
It was a great evening with SE team and as always it was nice to meet other FF/KH fans! We ended the evening with couple of drinks in the local pub before heading back home.
If you guys have any questions about the event let me know on Twitter
